WHAT SHOULD I ASK A PROSPECTIVE VOCAL COACH?

  • How long have you coached? what ages? which styles of music?
  • What is your pro singing experience and in which musical styles?
  • Do you provide warm up and cool down exercises to your students? are they all the same or are they custom tailored for each student?
  • Do you analyze each student's vocal habits at the first lesson (pitch, tone, breath control, range, stamina, and flexibility)? Do you also take a medical history (re: the voice)?
  • Can you teach breathing techniques so each student can self-check their own breath control?
  • Do you teach both live and studio singing, and microphone technique?
  • Do you teach stage presence, movement, and audience communication techniques?
